WELCOME McMillan Chess Team

Welcome to an excited school year 2008-2009. There are a lot of tournaments this year so you better get ready. Your first assignment online is to answer the following questions along with the solution of a puzzle. And remember, they are due on Wednesday, October 15th.

1. List all the pieces of a chess game along with their value.
2. List three strategies to follow when your opponent is attacking one of your pieces.
3. Solve the following puzzle. White to move and mate in one

1. Pawn=1 point. Eight pawns in each side.Refered as the file name ex:a4
Knight=3 points. 2 knights on each side. Refered as N ex:Nf3
Bishop=3 points. 2 bishops on each side. Refered as B ex:Bb5
Rook=5 points. 2 Rooks on each side
Refered as R Ex: Rf8
Queen=9 points. 1 as of having only one wife each side of board. Refered as Q ex: Qb2
King=no value. 1 in each side. Refered as K. Ex:Kf2
2. 1.capture the attacking piece
2.Defend the piece that is attacked by the opponent piece
3.Move away from the piece attacking.
